Introduction to Environmental Stewardship

Students had the opportunity to skype with environmental leaders, post to a blog, discuss their carbon footprint, use flip cams and digital cameras, feel a variety of Louisiana animal pelts and see bird beak skulls, vote with Activotes in a flip chart presentation, and collect data from our Coastal Roots plants in a rotational schedule. These activities were to introduce what the "I" means in stewardship. The students had a great time at all stations.

  7. All the stations during the Environmental Stewardship was so much fun. I got to skype with many people about the enviroment and ask them about how long do they think it will take to clean the oil spill. I also got to do a blog on what small things you can do to save our environment. I had an awesone time doing that lesson.

  33. The best part of all of the activities was getting to skype. I even asked a question about what caused the dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico, and they didn't know for sure. Maybe it was caused by people up north using fertilizer ontheir farms, and some of it runs off into the Mississippi River.

  43. I think Earthkeepers is totally beast! I liked the activities and magic spots. The magic spots at school are not as cool as are magic spots at Earthkeepers because the Baritaria has more trees. The best activity was finding a time capsule. I like being an Earthkeeper even though I missed the last day of Earthkeepers because I got sick. Nature rocks the house!
